Small teapot with “Scrub-ash” glaze.

Thrown from a textured stoneware clay. The runny ash glaze has a lovely glassy quality and is pale grey/olive in colour.

These small teapot forms refer to the pottery shape known as Gaiwan, originating from 15th Century Ming Dynasty China, and the later Japanese Shiboridashi or Houhin teapots.
